MY HANDY KHANTY DOLL

Dear friends, I am a pupil of class 4-A. My name is Martynenko Lisa. I like fun, and what about you? What do you usually do after school? As for me, a game and a toy is a very important part of my life. Our parents can play computer, toy games with their children . Dads like playing superheroes with sons, moms like playing dolls and a household with daughters. But we like playing toys in childhood most of all.

I asked my friends: “What is your favourite toy?” When do you take a toy in your hands? They answered: “When we are boring”. A game makes fun and joy. When we play we can reflect our life. I asked 40 pupils: “What is your favourite toy?”

Girls like playing dolls. We have got many of them. They are Barbies, superheroes, Brats. But I’m not surprised. Khanty children have their national traditional dolls too. They are very special. The Khanty say that a child doesn’t grow when he eats, but he grows when he makes fun.

I asked my friends: “Do you know Khanty doll? Do you know how it made? All my friends know about Khanty doll and nobody knows how it made. We don’t make toys. But it’s funny. Every Khanty and Manci girl has two bags – one for crafts, one for dolls. They make toys themselves.

They always have got a self-made doll with them. But if they forget it at home they can make it of fabric or platok. Khanty girls have their first dolls at the age of 3-4 years. Moms make the first dolls for their daughters, but a girl can make it too. Girls have different dolls: a dad, a mom, a shaman, a baby, a granny, a grandpa; kitchen and craft tools. They can make an exhibition of dolls in their choom or khot. The toy teaches how to hold a house, make clothes and to be a mom. Dolls secure and protect girl’s dream.

How does it look?

Ob and Kazim Khanty doll’s name’s “Akan” and Ugan Khanty doll’s name’s “Paki”. I’ve got a Khanty-doll too. It’s name’s Akan. Doll’s birthday is in January. She is my daughter and it’s time to sleep. What can I do? I sing a song lullybuy. She sleeps in lulka. But she can’t open her eyes and wake up. What’s wrong? Look at my magic doll. The doll has no face. Why have they no faces? Khanty say that a doll with a face is a ghost. It can scare a child. It’s got no arms, it’s got no hands, it’s got no legs, but my doll walks fast on her short feet. It’s not big. It’s small, like my hand. I like walking with the doll. Look at her decorated dress and platok. It’s a Khanty and Manci ornament. It’s nice, isn’t it?
